VAN GOGHS
Russia, Latvia, UK | Drama | 2018 | 102' |
VAN GOGHS portrays Russia and Poland's biggest stars Aleksey Serebryakov (Leviathan) and Daniel Olbrychski (Salt, The Promised Land), in an explosive duo for this acid dramedy about an opera master - the father; and a painter - his son, both trying to get in good terms with their art, their egos, and each other.
Mark is a lonely and struggling artist who is unable to form any kind of attachment with anyone, especially not his father Victor, a renowned conductor. They both loathe and adore each other at the same time and it all flares up with renewed vigor when Mark goes to visit his father after a long time apart. They are then both forced to come to terms with their past, their choices in life and their love for each other when Victor slowly withers away as dementia takes hold of him.
